Somerset Farm
Set in the rolling countryside of Somerset, this exceptional residential refurbishment transformed a recently built house into a contemporary yet timeless country home. We delivered comprehensive tender and project management services, alongside detailed technical coordination of the landscape works, ensuring absolute alignment between architecture, interiors and setting.
Bespoke joinery and fine Italian marble define the refined interior palette, while externally a naturally filtered 12-metre swimming pool, silver-birch lined timber walkway and bespoke outdoor kitchen are carefully positioned overlooking a wildflower meadow. The result is a home that feels both luxurious and deeply connected to its rural surroundings.

Context & Brief
Located in a Somerset village a stone’s throw from Bruton, Frome and Bath, the house occupies a privileged hillside position on the site of a former farm, overlooking sweeping countryside views. Although built just a decade ago, the property required thoughtful refinement to elevate its character and bring a greater sense of elegance and cohesion to both interior and exterior spaces.
We were appointed by London-based interior designers to realise their vision for a comprehensive internal renovation. Our role extended beyond the house itself: we introduced and coordinated landscape architects to shape a holistic external masterplan, and provided technical design input to the landscape package to ensure construction quality matched the ambition of the design.

Design Approach
Our focus was on assembling the right team and maintaining rigorous oversight from tender through to completion. We managed a carefully structured tender process, drawing on a trusted network of high-quality local contractors -including specialists with in-house joinery workshops - to ensure seamless delivery of the bespoke furniture package.
We guided the clients in selecting a builder with a professional management team, exceptional attention to detail and a strong culture of customer service. Throughout construction, we coordinated a multi-disciplinary team spanning Somerset and London, including interior designers, landscape architects, pool specialists and engineers.
Clear communication, decisive leadership and proactive problem-solving ensured the project progressed smoothly. Clients were kept fully informed and actively involved in key decisions, creating confidence at every stage and ensuring the finished home truly reflected their aspirations.

Outcome & Impact
The completed house is defined by precision, balance and quiet luxury. Interiors feel calm, crafted and enduring, while the gardens have been sculpted into a sequence of distinct outdoor rooms: a swimming pool terrace, a silver-birch lined walkway cascading down the natural topography, a morning coffee terrace and a south-facing dining terrace with bespoke outdoor kitchen.
The transformation has created not simply a renovated property, but a sanctuary - an elegant, future-proofed country home designed for long-term enjoyment.

Technical Details
This project combined refined craftsmanship with carefully considered technical upgrades to enhance both performance and longevity. The building’s renewable solar heating system was upgraded to improve energy efficiency and support the demands of the new heated swimming pool, ensuring comfort without compromising environmental responsibility.
Internally, bespoke cherry joinery was designed and fabricated with exceptional precision, complemented by fine Italian marble to create a cohesive and enduring material palette. Every junction and interface was carefully detailed to achieve a seamless, high-quality finish throughout.
Externally, a 12-metre naturally filtered heated swimming pool was integrated into the landscape, complete with a bespoke outdoor shower and carefully engineered pool infrastructure. Frake timber cladding was introduced to soften the architectural expression of the building and allow it to sit more harmoniously within its rural setting.
A particularly distinctive feature is the timber walkway, meticulously detailed to step down the natural topography of the garden. Threaded between silver birch trees, it appears to cascade through the landscape, requiring close coordination between design and implementation to achieve both elegance and durability.

Challenges & Problem Solving
As with all work to existing buildings, unforeseen conditions emerged, including complex service routes and drainage constraints. Through close collaboration and swift decision-making, the team resolved these challenges without compromising the design vision.
Maintaining exceptional quality across a multi-disciplinary team operating between Somerset and London required strong coordination and consistent standards. By aligning all consultants and contractors around a shared commitment to craftsmanship and aesthetic clarity, we ensured that every detail worked hard - and that the finished home met the highest expectations of both designer and client.
